On the graded identities and cocharacters of the algebra of 3×3 matrices

Abstract Let M2,1(F) be the algebra of 3×3 matrices over an algebraically closed field F of characteristic zero with non-trivial Z 2 -grading. We study the graded identities of this algebra through the representation theory of the hyperoctahedral group Z 2 ∼S n . After splitting the space of multilinear polynomial identities into the sum of irreducibles under the Z 2 ∼S n -action, we determine all the irreducible Z 2 ∼S n -characters appearing in this decomposition with non-zero multiplicity. We then apply this result in order to study the graded cocharacter of the Grassmann envelope of M2,1(F). Heterogeneous PBLAS: Optimization of PBLAS for Heterogeneous Computational Clusters

This paper presents a package, called Heterogeneous PBLAS (HeteroPBLAS), which is built on top of PBLAS and provides optimized parallel basic linear algebra subprograms for heterogeneous computational clusters. We present the user interface and the software hierarchy of the first research implementation of HeteroPBLAS. This is the first step towards the development of a parallel linear algebra package for heterogeneous computational clusters. We demonstrate the efficiency of the HeteroPBLAS programs on a homogeneous computing cluster and a heterogeneous computing cluster.
The algebra eigenstates method for some systems with spin-like interactions

International audience; An extension of the algebra eigenstates formalism is proposed to solve the eigenvalue equation for a class of problems involving "spin interactions". The method is detailed for the harmonic oscillator, su(2) and su(1, 1) algebras. Special emphasis is given to the resolution of problems in vibronic spectroscopy involving doubly degenerate electronic states.

The Standard Model of Electroweak Interactions can be described by a generalized Yang-Mills field incorporating both the usual gauge bosons and the Higgs fields. The graded derivative by means of which the Yang-Mills field strength is constructed involves both a differential acting on space-time and a differential acting on an associative graded algebra of matrices. The square of the curvature for the corresponding covariant derivative yields the bosonic Lagrangian of the Standard Model. We show how to recover the whole fermionic part of the Standard Model in this framework. Classical anomalies of supersymmetric extended objects

Abstract The hamiltonian form of the action for a p-extended supersymmetric object is presented, and used to deduce both the algebra generated by the constraints, in agreement with previous results for p=1,2, and the algebra of the supersymmetry charges. The “anomalous” contributions in each algebra (for given p) are shown to be related, and the origin of their different properties is exhibited. In particular, it is shown why only in the charge algebra are the “anomalous” contributions always topological and the commutators of the translations always zero.

The quantization of the Virasoro group is carried out by means of a previously established group approach to quantization. We explicitly work out the two-cocycles on the Virasoro group as a preliminary step. In our scheme the carrier space for all the Virasoro representations is made out of polarized functions on the group manifold. It is proved that this space does not contain null vector states, even forc≦1, although it is not irreducible. On the Directly and Subdirectly Irreducible Many-Sorted Algebras

AbstractA theorem of single-sorted universal algebra asserts that every finite algebra can be represented as a product of a finite family of finite directly irreducible algebras. In this article, we show that the many-sorted counterpart of the above theorem is also true, but under the condition of requiring, in the definition of directly reducible many-sorted algebra, that the supports of the factors should be included in the support of the many-sorted algebra. Moreover, we show that the theorem of Birkhoff, according to which every single-sorted algebra is isomorphic to a subdirect product of subdirectly irreducible algebras, is also true in the field of many-sorted algebras.
Extended-order algebras as a generalization of posets

Motivated by the recent study of several researchers on extended-order algebras, introduced by C. Guido and P. Toto as a possible common framework for the majority of algebraic structures used in many-valued mathematics, the paper focuses on the properties of homomorphisms of the new structures, considering extended-order algebras as a generalization of partially ordered sets. The manuscript also introduces the notion of extended-relation algebra providing a new framework for developing the theory of rough sets.
